Doors open at 5:30pm for dinner and free admission to the galleries at the Flint Institute of Arts. The film begins at 6:45pm. on Thursday\, Feb. 27\, 2025. Please note that the date of this event has been changed to Feb. 27 due to the weather.\n\n \n\nAbout 'This Is My Black': Students at Berks County's Pine Forge Academy display that Black youth with agency can persist even in a world trying to stifle them. Opening with a glorious and rhythm-filled musical number\, the students spotlight their gifts as well as their awareness of the precarity of Black life. Further expressed in choir rehearsal\, where personal struggles yield results\, a vulnerable moment allows the students to reveal the hardship of navigating a world where Black death consumes the media.\n\n\n\nA brief discussion by local experts will follow the documentary film screening. The event is free\, but donations are accepted.
