SUMMARY:2023 ABC12/ ELGA Credit Union Diaper Drive
DESCRIPTION:The ABC12 Diaper Drive at ELGA Credit Union will be back this June. And we need your help to make a difference to families who need our help more than ever before. One in three families in our community struggles to afford diapers for their baby. One in three. Right now\, the cost is greater than ever before and so is the need. \n\n \n\nDiapers are a necessity -- as essential to a baby's health and well being as food\, shelter and a parent's love. And no federal or state program provides diapers or funding to help purchase them. Many babies are forced to stay in diapers for days at a time - increasing the risk of diaper rash\, infections\, neglect and even child abuse. \n\n \n\nWhen families can't afford diapers\, they are faced with a choice between buying diapers and paying for food\, rent or utilities like heat. That's a choice no parent should ever face. \n\n \n\nSince 2012\, the Flint diaper Bank has been working to deliver diapers to families who otherwise would be forced to go without. We coordinate the purchase of diapers below cost\, deliver them to the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan and distribute them through 28 non-profit agencies throughout Genesee County. \n\n \n\nOur goal is to collect enough money through sponsors\, donations and grants to provide one million diapers each year to needy families in every corner of our community. And thanks to some of our generous sponsors\, we have been able to maintain that commitment for the past ten years - even throughout the pandemic. The Flint Diaper Bank operations with zero administrative costs. Every penny raised goes to our cause. Every diaper stays in our community. \n\n \n\nWe are asking you to be part of our mission. We need your support more than ever before as we work to keep up with the increased demand for help. \n\n \n\nDuring the ABC12 Diaper Drive on June 2\, 2023 - we will be broadcasting live from ELGA Credit Union in Burton. It's a great way to raise your company's profile and a meaningful way to give back to your community. We welcome you to be part of this year's event. With your help\, we can give every child something they deserve - the chance to be clean and safe. Together\, we can help change babies and our community.\n\n\n\nPlease contact Cheryl Sclater at Cheryl.Sclater@elgacu.com if you are interested in becoming a sponsor. \n\n \n\nAngie Hendershot\, ABC12 Co-founder\, The Flint Diaper Bank \n\nPhil Shaltz Co-founder\, The Flint Diaper Bank \n\nCheryl Sclater ELGA Credit Union Company
