Description
The Flint & Genesee Chamber of Commerce is offering a unique opportunity to Genesee County high school students. Several manufacturing companies around Genesee County are partnering with the Chamber to offer tours. Today’s skilled trades are the hot jobs that are growing and evolving. These include advanced manufacturing, IT, construction and healthcare.
Requirements for students interested in participating:
- Attend high school in Genesee County, grades 9-12 (public, private, charter, home school)
- Have transportation to and from their high school for bus pick-up and drop-off
- Have the ability to be excused from attending school for the day of the experience
Did you know skilled trades:
- Don’t necessarily require a four-year degree?
- Are some of the most in-demand jobs posted online? More than 8,300 skilled trade jobs are currently available in Michigan.
- Provide opportunities that will continue to grow? More than 6,700 job openings are expected every year, through 2022.
