Planetarium Educator
General Description
The Planetarium Educator is responsible for presenting educational programming at
the Longway Planetarium. Teaching modalities will include the fixed and portable planetarium, classrooms, and virtual programming.
Responsibilities
- Present planetarium programming including live lectures, full dome features, and live educational content
- Assist with the transportation, setup, and operation of the portable planetarium
- Operate the Planetarium’s laser system
- Assist with the development of new planetarium programming and assets
- Facilitate a safe and welcoming environment for visitors
- Maintain a clean work environment
- Assist with the maintenance of planetarium workspaces and equipment
- Maintains regular and prompt attendance at work
- Displays professional and respectful behavior to all persons in the workplace
- Follows organizational policies and procedures
Education/Qualifications/Skills Required
- High School Diploma or GED
- Bachelors Degree in Astronomy, Science, or related field or an equivalent combination of work, training, and education experience preferred
- Experience working in education or comparable experience working with children and school groups
- Ability to work with a wide variety of audiences including the general public, children, special needs groups, and scouts
- Ability to lift 30 lbs
20-29 hours a week
Pay Range
$15.00/hr
