About Us

Genesee Packaging, Inc. was founded in 1979 in Flint, Michigan by Willie E. Artis to provide contract packaging to the automotive industry and supply various corrugated products. During the early 1980’s, the company expanded to include a corrugated manufacturing operation and a packaging facility dedicated to steering components. The company designed and developed an innovative Pallet Pack system that continues to lead the industry. In the mid 1990’s the company purchased Off Shore Diving and Packaging, expanding its services to include distribution of diving equipment to the Federal Government. In this same timeframe, Genesee also opened a facility dedicated to the repackaging of returned automotive components. In the late 1990’s the company expanded again by building a new facility within Flint’s Renaissance Zone to incorporate supply chain management, warehousing, sequencing and direct shipment distribution of customer’s products. In the late 2000’s the company determined that we needed to ensure diversification was a key part of our plans. We decided to change our name to The Genesee Group, Inc. to reflect the true diversity of products and services we offer.

Since that time we have been known as The Genesee Group dba Genesee Packaging. In 2014, the company transitioned to new ownership with Jane Worthing, who had been with the company since it opened in 1979. The organization has continued to thrive and grow, with 450,000 square feet of operational footprint.
