Description
Join the African American Advisory Committee for our April meeting on Friday, Apr. 24, from 9-10:30am! We'll be at the new location of one of our favorite local publications, Flint Beat, in the heart of Downtown Flint. In addition to great networking and connections, attendees will learn expert tips on how to work with media, build a larger presence, and gain visibility and establish credibility through a range of media partners and channels.
About our Featured Speaker: Flint Beat‘s founder and publisher, Jiquanda Johnson is a Flint-area native with more than 16 years of experience in journalism including print, television and digital media. She has worked for The Detroit News, NBC25, Fox and MLive Media Group/The Flint Journal, where she covered the city of Flint.
If you’re not familiar with the AAAC, it’s a great resource for black entrepreneurs, business owners and leaders, and supporters of the black business community here in Flint & Genesee. It’s an incredibly supportive group for people starting and growing businesses and/or becoming leaders in their field. Between the conversations, coffee, and relevant information, it’s an hour very well spent. This month, co-chairs Luther Brown and La’Asia Johnson will help you start strong with relevant financial guidance and marketing advice that will help bring you to the next level.
These monthly AAAC gatherings are a great way to connect with fellow entrepreneurs and business leaders to identify opportunities and address common challenges among Black-owned businesses. Bring your business cards and ideas!
The AAAC supports the growth and success of Black-owned businesses in Genesee County. Business owners, professionals, community partners, and supporters are welcome to participate in AAAC activities. The AAAC serves as the liaison between the region's growing African American business community and the Flint & Genesee Chamber. AAAC members partner with the Chamber to support the advancement and development of African American businesses.
Please join the AAAC the Fourth Friday of each month for informational and networking meetings. Locations vary from month-to-month to highlight different businesses and supporting partners in the area, and a virtual option will be offered when possible. Meeting agendas will focus on connecting people to needed resources, engaging with community leaders, and networking.
