“Artomotive – Raise The Hood” Back to the Bricks Competition
Date and Time
Sunday Aug 11, 2013
Description
The Artomotive Competition is a program developed between the Back to the Bricks Statue Committee, the Greater Flint Arts Council and the Flint & Genesee Convention and Visitors Bureau to benefit the Automotive Pioneers Statue Fund. This competition will be a major feature of the 2013 Back to the Bricks events. The theme for the inaugural contest is “Raise the Hood” with body shop painters, traditional fine artists and the public in general invited to participate in this summer’s competition which will culminate in a benefit auction where the creations will be sold to support the funding of additional pioneer statues. The only requirements for this competition are that you must be 18 years of age, or older, and that an automotive hood be incorporated into the work – complete creativity is encouraged. The competition includes two juried divisions – “Off Site” is where artists deliver their completed works to assigned Flint & Genesee locations on August 5 for exhibition and judging or “On-Site” is where artists will create their work at assigned Flint & Genesee locations beginning August 5 until noon on August 9 for judging. Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. There will also be a “People’s Choice” Grand Prize. All entries will then be auctioned at a Benefit Auction held during the Back to the Bricks show on Saturday afternoon, August 17. To enter, an application form and entry fee of $50 must be submitted to the Artomotive Committee on or before July 31, 2013. All needed application information can be found at www.backtothebricks.org.
