Explore the Treasures of Your Own Backyard!
Explore Flint & Genesee – in partnership with Genesee County and Mass Transportation Authority (MTA) Flint – will host its popular Be a Tourist in Your Hometown event on Saturday, May 10, 2025. This one-day event allows locals to tour several area attractions for free!
Here's how it works: Residents and visitors can register either in advance online or on the day of the event at Brush Park in downtown Flint or at the Sloan Museum of Discovery. This is where you will pick up your Be a Tourist passport and wristband, which grants you entry to more than 20 area attractions.
Tourists can choose among different free bus routes provided through MTA Flint, a longstanding co-sponsor of the Be a Tourist event, to visit a variety of attractions. Also, enjoy walking tours of downtown Flint, lawn games in Brush Park, and more.
Additionally, multiple restaurants have signed on to offer “Be a Tourist” specials as part of the Be a Tourist festivities.
