The Nutcracker
Description
The Nutcracker Timothy Muffett, Guest Conductor Karen Mills Jennings, Artistic Director Guest Artists from Collage Dance Collective Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker has been a family holiday tradition for decades. The story of Clara, a young girl swept away to a magical land of adventure, is a joy for adults and children alike. Clara’s family Christmas Eve party features grand waltzes and unique dolls (made by her Uncle Drosselmeyer) that come to life performing dance solos. Drosselmeyer’s magic ushers in an army of mice at the stroke of midnight, as the Christmas tree and Clara’s beloved nutcracker spring to life. The second act sweeps Clara away to a magical world in the Land of Sweets, where she enjoys performances from many of its citizens, including chocolate from Spain, coffee from Arabia, tea from China and more. The joy, beauty and adventure of The Nutcracker has something for the whole family to enjoy—join the Flint Symphony Orchestra and the Flint School of Performing Arts ballet students in celebrating this beloved holiday tradition.
