Description
During the Great Depression, New York-based Associated American Artists (AAA) was formed to make original, fine art affordable to middle-class families. Starting in 1934, artists such as Thomas Hart Benton, Peggy Bacon, Grant Woods and Benny Andrews were hired to create etchings and lithographs priced and marketed to these families. View the FIA's collection by the AAA who played an important role in promoting American art in the early twentieth century through the postwar era. FIA is open Monday-Wednesday & Friday 12 p.m. to 5 p.m., Thursday 12 p.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. For details and a schedule of upcoming exhibits visit www.flintarts.org.
